He has 12 years of experience in management and consulting both at the national and international level. He initiated his career at the REL Consultancy Group (New York), held the Manager position at telecommunications strategy consultants Diamondcluster International (Spain, Portugal) and was also Business Development Director of Intelligent Software Components (Spain). He has focused his career in corporate development with early stage innovation and research based companies.
Jorge holds a BSc. in Economics from Babson College and an MBA from London Business School.
Dr. Juan Aymami,
Chief Scientific Officier and Founder.
Dr. Aymami is a leading scientist in the field of structural biology. Since its foundation, at Crystax he manages all R&D activities and has been the main driver leading to the design and implementation of our B2D2 Platform. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Crystax. He has worked for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the New York State Department of Health (NIH), Cambridge University, the Institute of Cancer Research (UK) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. His major contributions have been in the field of polymer chemistry, modelling, 3D reconstitution by Electron microscopy, nucleic acid structure and drug-DNA interactions.
Irena Bonin, PhD.
Head of Structural Biology
Dr. Bonin obtained her PhD. Degree from the Technical University of Munich (Germany) working in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. R. Huber at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry. During her PhD. she gained experience in the crystal structure determination of different protein targets. She joined CrystaX Pharmaceuticals in April 2005 as postdoctoral scientist and became Head of Structural Biology in 2008. She has extensive experience in the relevant methods employed in protein X-ray crystallography, i.e. gene cloning, protein purification and characterization, protein crystallization, diffraction data collection, structure solution and structure analysis.
Marc Martinell, PhD.
Head of Biophysics
Dr. Martinell studied chemistry at the University of Barcelona and obtained his PhD. in organic chemistry working on protein recognition and ligand design. During his studies he gained extensive experience in homonuclear and heteronuclear NMR spectroscopy. He is also experienced in other biophysical techniques including fluorescence spectroscopy, Biacore and isothermal titration calorimetry, and other fields such as molecular modelling, molecular biology, peptide synthesis and amyloid fibril formation studies. He is co-author of the patent “Cyclic depsipeptide as chemotherapeutic anticancer agent”, recently licensed to Cancer Research Technology.
